The coaching carousel is spinning.

The searches for new head coaches at more than one dozen schools are underway, and the rumors are wild.

Dec. 24

Florida: Michigan State running backs coach William Peagler has been hired as Florida’s tight ends coach. 

UMass: Arizona support staffer Ryan Partridge has been hired as receivers coach at UMass.

Nevada: Mike Bethea has been hired as defensive coordinator at Nevada, reports FootballScoop. Bethea was the defensive coordinator at Ottawa University in Arizona, an NAIA school.

Florida: Billy Napier is preparing to add New York Giants offensive line coach Rob Sale as an assistant coach on offense and he’s also set to hire Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Karl Scott as co-defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach, reports FootballScoop.

Virginia: Former Virginia special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield is headed to FIU as special teams coordinator and assistant head coach, sources tell 247Sports.

Dec. 23

SMU: Miami receivers coach Rob Likens has been targeted to be the next receivers coach at SMU, sources tell 247Sports. Likens coached receivers this fall at Miami alongside recently-hired SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee at Miami. Likens is expected to call plays for the Hurricanes in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31. Likens was previously a receivers coach and offensive coordinator at several stops, most recently at Kansas and Arizona State. 

Troy: Army co-defensive coordinator Shiel Wood has been hired as Troy’s defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

Oregon: Colorado cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin has been hired as Oregon’s defensive backs coach, reports Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports.

Dec. 22

Oregon: Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Adrian Klemm has been targeted for the same job at Oregon, a person familiar with the situation tells 247Sports.

New Mexico State: Southern Illinois defensive line coach Chuke Ndulue is expected to join Jerry Kill’s staff as defensive line coach, reports Football Scoop.

Nevada: Nevada is raiding Oregon’s outgoing staff. Oregon analyst Nate Costa has been hired as the Wolfpack’s quarterbacks coach. Oregon analyst Kwame Agyeman has been hired as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Nevada and Jalen Ortiz, a former analyst and staff member at Oregon and Wyoming, will coach cornerbacks, reports Bryce Feldman of FOX Sports.

Liberty: Defensive line coach Josh Aldridge and safeties coach Jack Curtis have been promoted to co-defensive coordinators at Liberty, a source tells 247Sports. 247Sports reported Wednesday the move was a strong possibility being considered by coach Hugh Freeze.

Fresno State: John Baxter is expected to be hired as Fresno State’s special teams coordinator, reports Adam Rittenberg of ESPN. He also coached special teams previously at Fresno State and USC.

Dec. 21

Oregon: Nebraska defensive line coach Tony Tuioti is expected to be hired as Oregon’s new defensive line coach on Dan Lanning’s staff, reports 247Sports’ Duck Territory.

Liberty: Liberty’s search for new defensive coordinator is in the early days, but one strong possibility being weighed by Hugh Freeze: defensive line coach Josh Aldridge and safeties coach Jack Curtis as co-coordinators, a source tells 247Sports.

UCLA: UCLA is expected to hire Ikaika Malloe as outside linebackers coach, reports Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports. Malloe previously coached the same position at Washington.

UConn: Youngstown State defensive line coach Kenny McClendon has accepted the same position at UConn on Jim Mora’s staff.

Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech hired Buffalo’s Mike Daniels as running backs coach. 

Colorado: Michigan offensive analyst Kyle DeVan has been hired as Colorado’s offensive line coach.

Virginia TechVirginia Tech head coach Brent Pry has promoted Pierson Prioleau to safeties coach. He was previously the director of player development on defense.

Georgia Southern: Georgia Southern is hiring a trio of former Washington assistants, reports Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports. Will Harris (defensive coordinator), Rip Rowan (defensive line) and Aaron Schwanz (linebackers) are joining Clay Helton’s staff.

Dec. 20

Colorado State: Montana State defensive coordinator Freddie Banks is expected to be hired as Colorado State’s new defensive coordinator, reports

Washington State: Former Virginia running backs coach Mark Atuaia and former Texas Tech outside receivers coach Joel Filani are joining Washington State’s staff, reports Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports.

UCFUCF quarterbacks coach GJ Kinne is in line to be hired as the next head coach at Incarnate Word, a source tells 247Sports.

Duke/Rutgers: Rutgers defensive coordinator Robb Smith‘s contract was allowed to expire and he is expected to be introduced later this week as Duke’s coordinator, reports James Kratch of

Dec. 19

USC: Texas A&M offensive line coach Josh Henson is headed to USC to coach the offensive line on Lincoln Riley’s staff, reports Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports.

Syracuse: Virginia appears set to lose two staffers soon as Tony Elliott transitions to head coach and the staff under outgoing coach Bronco Mendenhall continues to shift into a new era. Robert Anae, who stepped down last week, has been targeted to be Syracuse’s next offensive coordinator and current quarterbacks coach Jason Beck is also being targeted by the Orange to join the staff as quarterbacks coach, reports Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports. A person familiar with the situation tells 247Sports a third staffer is likely on his way out at the end of this week, though it’s not believed he is being targeted by Syracuse. Stay tuned. 

Texas: Longhorns receivers coach Andre Coleman has been fired by coach Steve Sarkisian, reports Horns247.

Wake ForestLyle Hemphill, now officially hired at Duke, will not coach Wake Forest’s defense against Texas A&M in the Gator Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Demon Deacons coach Dave Clawson says “our staff will collectively fill his role” for the bowl game.

Dec. 18

SMU: Liberty defensive coordinator Scott Symons has been hired to the same position at SMU, a source tells 247Sports.

Washington: The Huskies confirmed five hirings Saturday evening, including four on-field staffers at Fresno State, which is fresh off a win against UTEP in a bowl game.

Colorado State: Mater Dei High coach James Finley has been hired as Colorado State’s receivers coach, according to multiple reports. Finley played receiver at Oregon.

Texas: Tashard Choice is expected to be hired as Texas’ running backs coach, according to On3. Choice recently left Georgia Tech to be USC’s running backs coach on Lincoln Riley’s staff but he’s instead off to Austin to join the Longhorns.

Idaho: South Dakota State offensive coordinator Jason Eck is expected to accept Idaho’s offer to be head coach, according to multiple reports. 247Sports reported Wednesday Eck as Idaho’s pick as head coach.

Auburn: Auburn has hired Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Austin Davis as offensive coordinator, a source tells 247Sports. An official announcement is coming today

Virginia: Offensive coordinator Robert Anae has left the staff at Virginia, pushing quarterbacks coach Jason Beck to call plays in the upcoming Fenway Bowl against SMU, according to the Richmond Times Dispatch.

UMass: Michigan analyst Steve Casula has been hired as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at UMass. 

Dec. 17

Duke: Wake Forest defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill is expected to join Mike Elko‘s staff at Wake Forest as safeties coach, according to multiple reports.

Oregon: Ducks coach Dan Lanning announced Friday the hiring of Baylor safeties coach Matt Powledge as the Ducks’ co-defensive coordinator.

Colorado: Former Minnesota offensive coordinator Mike Sanford has been hired as Colorado’s offensive coordinator.

Washington: Washington has hired Vanderbilt defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield to the same position and former Indiana quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan as tight ends coach. Receivers coach Junior Adams and offensive line coach Scott Huff have been retained by newly-hired head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Oklahoma: The Sooners made three hires official today with Jerry Schmidt (strength coach), former defensive assistant Brandon Hall (safeties) and former Clemson defensive assistant Miguel Chavis (defensive ends).

Florida StateFlorida State is promoting analyst Tony Tokarz to quarterbacks coach, a source tells 247Sports. He previously served as tight ends coach at Memphis.
