In 1954, Milan H.S. (enrollment 161) became the smallest school to win the Indiana State Basketball Tournament. The team provided the inspiration for the movie “Hoosiers”.
Two years earlier (1952), Hebron H.S. (enrollment 96) won the Illinois State Basketball Tournament. In 1992, Brad Palmer did a two-part retrospective of that team on WLS-TV Chicago. It features four players from the starting five.
