American Airlines Carrier Settles Worker Biometric Privacy Suit

American Airlines Group Inc. subsidiary Envoy Air has settled a proposed biometric privacy class action alleging it collected fingerprints and handprints of its Illinois employees for its timekeeping system, according to a filing in a federal court in that state.

The terms of the settlement are not stated in the filing and counsel for the two sides didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Named plaintiffs Maysoun Abudayyeh and Chelsea Burrow allege that the airline failed to comply with the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.
