How Bonus Code ACTION Works
Sportsbooks throw out a lot of different lingo when describing their sign-up offers. We did a deep dive on them already if you want to learn more.
This offer from BetMGM is what most books describe as a “risk-free bet.” There’s some risk, but it means that if your first wager on the platform loses, you’ll be refunded the same amount in free bets, up to $1,000.
Let’s look at a few examples.
Say I put $1,000 on the United States moneyline against Iran, priced at +105. If the US wins, I’ll make $1,050, and keep the original $1,000. I’ve effectively doubled my money.
If the US loses or ties Iran, I’ll get $1,000 back in free bets.

This is another match where the United States will be asked to break down a low block. Game theory is simple, as the United States need a win to go through and Iran needs a draw, so they are likely going to sit extremely deep.
The biggest difference between Iran facing England and Wales was the midfield. England had outstanding ball progressors, attackers and personnel with ability from the midfield to make line-breaking passes and create space.
USA are going to have to do something very similar because Iran are going to clog up the middle of the pitch and force the United States to push the ball out wide and beat them with crosses.
They’ve crossed the ball 46 times and only completed four of them. With that being said, there is not much talent in the Iran midfield and defense. Not a single one of their midfielders or defenders play in one of Europe’s top five leagues and that was very evident against England.
So, the United States should be able to dominate this match in the midfield with Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah.
I have the United States projected at -131, so I like the value on them at +100.
Using the Free Bets
Free bets are almost like cash, but they must be wagered before you can withdraw them. And if the bet loses, they go away.
Pretend USA loses, and I’m refunded in free bets, $1,000 worth. They’ll be split up into smaller increments, likely 10, $100 free bets.
The math says to use free bets on longshots, so that’s what I’ll do. I’ll bet Poland moneyline against Argentina at +650.
