Quincy has so many beautiful old homes, that not all can be kept up. Quincy Northwest Historic District has fallen into disrepair. The neighborhood is packed with historic homes, many past the point of any use. I have never heard of much intention to clean up the neighborhood and demolish these homes, but it will happen eventually. I feel obligated to document them while they still stand.
It is so easy for me to look at these buildings and imagine their majesty 100 years ago. The families that occupied them, the liveliness of the neighborhood. Built well before cars, so every house has horse and buggy.
It kills me to see this, but it’s everywhere.
