EIU’s Tom Michael To Serve As FCSADA President

CLEVELAND – The Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) has selected Tom Michael, director of athletics at Eastern Illinois University, to serve as President for the 2022-23 membership year.

“I’m humbled to be able to serve the FCS ADA Committee in this way for the 2022-23 academic year,” said Michael, who begins his ninth year leading Eastern Illinois University athletics. “There are amazing individuals in this profession and to be able to work alongside them, at an incredibly important and impactful time, is going to be a rewarding process. Nikki Moore has led our Association wonderfully this year and I appreciate her leadership and hope to continue the direction we have established. Now is the time for the FCS ADA to be fully engaged as a membership to help form and shape the future for many years to come. FCS football is a great enterprise for so many and to be involved for the betterment of the holistic student-athlete experience will continue to be a priority for success.”

Michael takes over for Nicki Moore, director of athletics at Colgate University, who served for the 2021-22 year and will transition to Immediate Past President. In addition to Michael, the following athletics directors will serve as FCS ADA Officers for the 2022-23 membership year: 1st Vice President Milton Overton, director of athletics at Kennesaw State University; 2nd Vice President Ryan Ivey, director of athletics at Stephen F. Austin State University and 3rd Vice President Mark Benson, director of athletics at University of Albany.

In addition to the 2022-23 Officers, the following directors of athletics will serve on the FCS ADA Executive Committee: Brad Teague, University of Central Arkansas (ASUN); Mark Orr, Sacramento State (Big Sky); Chris King, Robert Morris University (Big South); John Mack, Princeton University (Ivy);  Skip Perkins, North Carolina Central University (Mid-Eastern) David Herbster, University of South Dakota (Missouri Valley); Jeremy Gibson, Merrimack College (Northeast); Kurt McGuffin, University of Tennessee at Martin (Ohio Valley); Sherryta Freeman, Lafayette College (Patriot); Tim Murray, Marist University (Pioneer); Mark Wharton, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Southern); Jonathan Terrell, Nichols State University (Southland); Chris Robinson, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (SWAC); and Ken Beazer, Utah Tech University (WAC). In addition, Beth DeBauche, Commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference, will continue to serve as the Association’s Commissioner Representative on the Executive Committee.
