GLENBARD WEST, GONZAGA COMMIT Braden Huff vs CHICAGO WHITNEY YOUNG in Illinois State Title Game!

Glenbard West’s HS basketball team (Glen Ellyn, IL) completed it’s Storybook Season (37-1) by beating Chicago Whitney Young 56-34 to win the 2022 Illinois 4a IHSA Boys Basketball State Title. Gonzaga commit Braden Huff led the Hilltoppers balanced attack all season alongside Caden Pierce (Princeton), Ryan Renfro, Paxton Warden and Bobby Durkin.
After starting 26-0, Glenbard West’s only defeat was a buzzer beater vs Sierra Canyon (CA) who features Amari Bailey and Bronny James. Glenbard West is coached by Jason Opoka.
Whitney Young Dolphins overcame a shakey start to their season by winning the Chicago Public League City Title in February and making a lengthy postseason run to the state title game. Coached by Ty Slaughter, Young was led by seniors Xavier Amos (NIU), AJ Casey (Miami), and junior PG Dalen Davis among others.
Time will tell but this Glenbard West team and their run will be considered among the greats in recent Illinois basketball history.
