In March 2023, Scottish Opera presents the Scottish premiere of Puccini’s Il trittico – an epic triptych comprising three fully staged operas in one extraordinary evening at the theatre, as Puccini intended. Directed by world-renowned Sir David McVicar, staging Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi is the pinnacle of our 60th Anniversary Season.
A huge variety of activity is taking place in our Production Studios to build three unique operatic worlds. Utilising the specialist talents that opera requires, our makers are busy creating, engineering and crafting to bring Sir David McVicar’s directorial vision for this beautiful production to life. These performances showcase every ounce of our artisan skills, our passionate musicality and our creative ambition. Scottish Opera is putting its heart, soul, and all its expertise into this extraordinary enterprise, bringing the best of what opera has to offer to the people of Scotland.
