On August 1st, 2021, the 30th Annual Vintage Transport Extravaganza was held at the Illinois Railway Museum. The event brought together the “other” popular modes of transportation – cars, trucks, buses and more – on the campus of the nation’s largest operating railway museum. It is one of the largest antique vehicle shows in the entire state of Illinois and among the most popular events at the museum.
In addition to the 500 antique vehicles that will be on display, the museum was operating a variety of special equipment including Frisco 2-10-0 1630 on the Coach / RPO train, J Neils Lumber 5 on the Caboose Train, CB&Q 9911a and the Nebraska Zephyr, CA&E Cars 319, 36, and 309, alongside 3 of the museums streetcars.
