In my opinion, Montserrat Caballe’s voice would have to rank in the top 5 sopranos of all time. The Spanish soprano is best known for her bel canto repertoire, notably the works of Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi. This stunning recording of “Chi Ilbel Sogno Di Doretta” from Giacomo Puccin’s “La Rondine” is from the 1970 recording “Montserrat Caballé, Puccini Arias” with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Charles Mackerras.
