In a late February afternoon 2022, I walked in Evanston, a beautiful small town in Illinois and a Chicago suburb. It was still winter, and snow was still everywhere, but with sunlight, it didn’t feel cold.
My route was beyond downtown Evanston, mostly around residential neighborhoods and along the shore of Lake Michigan. Every time I walked around residential neighborhoods of Evanston, I was amazed at the architectural beauty and diversity of the houses.
Instead of cacophony, serenity surrounded most of my route. The blue sky, snow-blanketed ground, bare trees and bird chirping created a serene wintry atmosphere.
