After a windchill advisory expired Friday morning, National Weather Service officials released a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Earlier Friday, officials expected windchills at 15 to 20 below zero in the area. Later an advisory warning of excessive cold and possibly ice jams causing flooding was a possibility.

Officials said cold weather was expected to continue with high temperatures to remain in the single digits across northwestern Illinois, possibly climbing into the teens south of Interstate 80.

Saturday through Thursday cold temperatures were expected to stick around.

At Midway Airport temperatures were at 5 degrees with a negative 15 windchill. Northwest winds were 10 mph.
