For the seventh consecutive week, Eastern Illinois women’s basketball has received votes in the CollegeInsider.com mid major top 25. This week, the Panthers garnered 24 votes, making them the eighth team out of the poll. For the third consecutive week, the Panthers are the only Ohio Valley Conference school receiving votes in the poll.
EIU currently stands at 10-3 overall on the season, with their 10 wins being the most of any team in the OVC. No other school in the conference currently has more than eight overall wins on the season. The Panthers are 2-0 in OVC play for the first time since the 2014-15 season following home wins last week over conference newcomers Lindenwood and Southern Indiana. They are in a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Tennessee Tech and Little Rock, who are both also currently 2-0 in OVC play.
The Panthers will play at Tennessee Tech on Thursday, January 5 at 5:30 PM CT in a battle of undefeated OVC teams. EIU will then play at Morehead State on Saturday, January 7 at 12 PM CT.
