WeWork Ducks Biometrics Suit, Shielded by 2020 Jumio Settlement


WeWork evaded claims that it tracked people in its office spaces without consent, as an Illinois federal judge ruled that the lead plaintiff was already a member of a class action settlement in state court that had indemnified WeWork from future claims.

Elliot Osborne sued WeWork in 2019, alleging that the company took photos of people arriving at their office spaces and nonconsensually stored biometric data to track them throughout the shared offices, in violation of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.
