Xiaomi Mi Band 7 Pro comes with larger display, Xiaomi Book Pro with 12th gen Intel processors

The Leica-branded Xiaomi 12S smartphone trio was at the forefront of today’s event, but Xiaomi also unveiled its first Pro Mi Band and a pair of high-end Intel Evo laptops with OLED touchscreens.

The Pro model straddles the line between smart band and smartwatch. It has a 1.64” display, which is wider horizontally than the Mi Band 7 display. It is also larger than the 1.47” display of the Redmi Smart Band 7 Pro.

The AMOLED display of the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 Pro has 326ppi “retina level” pixel density. The extra surface area offers more room to display health data and notifications.

The other key advantage of the Pro is the built in GPS receiver. Actually, it supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS.

Going back to the display, another improvement over the vanilla band is the ambient light sensor, which enables automatic brightness. Always On Display mode is available as well. Xiaomi also designed 180+ new watch faces for the new band.

Further customization are available through a rainbow of wrist bands. There are 6 classic colors to choose from, which cost CNY 39 ($7.3/€7), plus two special options with a leather texture – Van Gogh Green and Monet Grey (both CNY 59 or $8.8/€8.4).

The Mi Band 7 Pro has all-day heart rate and blood-oxygen tracking. It will buzz if it senses that your SpO2 levels are too low. Advanced sleep monitoring is available as well, tracking the three stages: light, deep and REM sleep.

The band comes with 117 exercise modes, including 10 running courses. Among them are interval running courses for a couple of skill levels, Moderate-Intensity Interval Training (MIIT), aerobic endurance training and more. You can challenge your friends to gamify staying healthy by winning medals for daily steps taken, calories burned or other readings.

Additionally, the band is rated for 5ATM water resistance, so you can take it swimming in the pool.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 Pro goes on sale in China today and until Thursday it will cost CNY 380. Afterwards it will go up to its usual price of CNY 400 ($60/€57/₹4,700). Note that the band features NFC (there is no version without it). Xiaomi didn’t mention if and when the band will be available globally.

Xiaomi Book Pro 2022

Xiaomi unveiled a high-end laptop available in two sizes: 14” and 16”. Both feature high resolution OLED touchscreens, slender CNC-machined bodies, Intel processors and an Intel Evo certification, which is reserved only for the best ultrabooks.

The laptops have E4 OLED displays that use 3D LUTs created by Xiaomi to achieve perfect color calibration (delta e around 0.33 for the 16” model, 0.43 for the 14” one). These are 10-bit panels with 100% coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces and Dolby Vision support. The panels are protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The 16” model has 4K resolution (283ppi) and a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification (peak brightness is 600 nits). The 14” one has 2.8K resolution (242ppi) and a DisplayHDR 500 certification. Both displays have 16:10 aspect ratios and 90% screen-to-body ratio.

The Xiaomi Book Pro 2022 comes in four configurations. The base 16” model has a 12th generation Intel Core i5 and starts at CNY 6,500 ($970/€930/₹76,700). The base 14” model also comes with an i6 and will cosy CNY 5,900 ($880/€845/₹69,500).

If you need more processing power, there is also a 16” laptop with an Intel Core i7-1260P and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 for CNY 8,500. The 14” model has two GPU versions – i5+MX550 (CNY 6,500) and i7+RTX 2050 (CNY 8,000). The laptops go on pre-order in China today through several online retailers.

The i7-1260P is a 12-core, 16-thread processor (4 performance, 8 efficiency cores) fabbed on the Intel 7 process. It is packed with 18MB of L3 cache and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7GHz. There are dual cooling fans with heat pipes that allow the processor to go up to 50W TDP.

The Intel processors are paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM (5,200MHz, dual channel) and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. They come with Windows 11 pre-installed and support gestures on the glass trackpad (which uses an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback). The backlit keyboard has 1.3mm key travel.

The 16” laptop weighs 1.8kg and has a 70Wh battery, enough for up to 12 hours of usage. The 14” model weighs in at 1.5kg. Both laptops support 100W charging over USB-C (Power Delivery 3.0) using a GaN adapter. The bodies measure 14.9mm thick (0.59”) and are made out of aviation-grade aluminum alloy, which has been sandblasted for a smooth finish.
