WHAT IS RUMCHATA?

Rumchata is a cream liqueur that uses five times distilled Caribbean rum and real dairy cream with natural cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, and other secret flavors.

A question we get asked frequently is ‘does Rumchata need to be refrigerated’? Once opened, Rumchata can remain at room temperature and will keep its great taste.

HOW TO MAKE RUMCHATA HOT CHOCOLATE

Making this homemade hot chocolate recipe is quick and easy and can be made in either your slow cooker, your Instant Pot, in an individual coffee mug, or in a larger pitcher if you’re serving guests.

This delicious cocktail recipe is perfect for fall and winter if you’re entertaining guests for Halloween, Thanksgiving, football game days, Christmas and so much more!

Your guests are almost guaranteed to love this boozy homemade hot chocolate cocktail!

First and foremost, this easy hot chocolate recipe can be made with either cocoa, melted milk or white chocolate chips, or a combination of the two.

We included instructions for both below, but for this recipe, we used melted chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.

Start by warming 4 cups milk in a pot on the stovetop over medium heat. Once the milk has warmed, add semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir regularly until melted and well combined. Feel free to add more chocolate, if desired.

If you would like your homemade hot chocolate a tab bit thicker, feel free to add 1/2 cup half and half, sweetened condensed milk, or whole milk.

Once the chocolate has melted, and combined well with the milk, add Rumchata. Continue to stir until well combined then remove from heat.

Using a ladle, scoop the hot chocolate into a mug and add all of your favorite toppings.

If you are interested in making this delicious cocktail recipe a mocktail, simply omit the Rumchata. It makes for a delicious treat for the kids, too!

Also, I recommend giving the rum hot chocolate a taste before serving. Want it stronger? Feel free to add a bit more Rumchata. Prefer your homemade hot chocolate even more sweet? Add some sugar. Regardless, this winter cocktail will taste fantastic!
