Howard scores twice in Alcorn State loss (how Syracuse football transfers fared)
Former Syracuse running back Jarveon Howard had a big game on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to lift Alcorn State to a win.
Howard rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, and caught a 16-yard pass for another score, but his Braves fell to Texas Southern 34-27 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game.
Howard has rushed for 860 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
Here’s a look at how some other transfers from Syracuse University fared this weekend:
Luke Benson, TE, Georgia Tech: Benson did not play in the Yellowjackets’ 16-9 loss to Virginia.
Geoff Cantin-Arku, LB, Memphis: Cantin-Arku made seven tackles, including three solo, in the Tigers’ 38-28 loss to No. 25 Tulane.
Tommy DeVito, QB, Illinois: Bye week.
Curtis Harper, DL, Akron: Harper made two tackles as the Zips lost to Kent State, 33-27.
Jawhar Jordan, RB, Louisville: Jordan ran five times for 13 yards in the Cardinals’ 24-10 win over Pitt.
Lee Kpogba, LB, West Virginia: Kpogba made nine tackles, including five solo, but West Virginia was pounded 48-10 by Texas Tech.
Cooper Lutz, RB, Vanderbilt: Lutz did not have a carry in the Commodores’ 17-14 loss at Missouri.
