2022 State News Gambling Guide: Week 11

0

Each week, The State News’ degenerates who are 21 and older will be helping you try to earn some money with three picks of their own. We will also update our records from the last week, so you can see who is really helping you cash in.

Sam Sklar, Sports Editor (18-15)

Another 2-1 week for me. This is starting to get easy.

Illinois (1H +10) at Michigan

I’m going right back to the well here fading Michigan in the first half. The Wolverines haven’t covered a first-half spread since Oct. 1. I think we get an inspired Illinois team to start the game after going from favorites in the Big Ten West to suddenly dropping two games in a row.

Oklahoma State (+7.5) at Oklahoma

This may be a trap but I’m going for it. I know Oklahoma has historically dominated this rivalry, but both teams have new coaches so I think that can, partially, be thrown out the window. Oklahoma State is the much better team this year and I love that I can get the hook here too.

USC at UCLA (+2.5)

Zach Charbonnet, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Chip Kelly. Let’s go.

Alex Faber, Football Reporter (13-20)

Welp. Just a couple of weeks left in the regular season and I’m sitting in a massive deficit. I apologize to all of the readers who have wasted their hard-earned money because of my gambling advice. Just bet whatever Sam says.

Penn State (-19.5) at Rutgers

Rutgers is just terrible. This might be a really low-scoring game, as both defenses are actually pretty solid, but I just don’t see how the Scarlet Knights will find the end zone. I witnessed first-hand just how choppy and inconsistent this offense was last weekend. Give me the Nittany Lions with an easy win.

Ohio State (-27.5) at Maryland

One of the only bets that hit for me last week came courtesy of the Buckeyes. I’ll stand pat with them again this week.

Maryland has done Maryland things this season. After starting off the season somewhat promising, the wheels have fallen off as the year has trudged on. The Terrapins seem to play their worst ball in November, so give me Ohio State with a blowout win.

UL Monroe (+15) at Troy

I’ll be honest, I know absolutely nothing about either of these teams. If you want actual information about a game like this, go ask Eli. I’m going to just throw a dart at the board and hope I get some points out of it. Give me the Warhawks to cover the spread.

Eli McKown, State News Contributor (15-18)

3-0! We’re getting back toward .500 after a brutal beginning on the behalf of the Jaguars from South Alabama.

South Alabama (-7.5) at Southern Miss

Wagon.

Duke (+7) at Pitt

Mike Elko is doing something special there in North Carolina. Pitt had a great week last time out, but that felt more like a fluke to me than anything. I like Duke to cover in this one and potentially win.

Texas Tech (+3.5) at Iowa State

Texas Tech is an enigma. This is one you definitely don’t look forward to on the schedule, but can implode at times. I’m betting that Texas Tech thrives and at least holds on to a field goal or less loss.
