The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games began yesterday (August 28) in the French capital, and the opening ceremony featured a performance from Christine and the Queens. Surrounded by dancers, some of whom were in wheelchairs, the Nantes-born artist did a unique, upbeat rendition of Édith Piaf’s “Non, je ne regrette rien.” Later, he sang Patrick Hernandez’s 1970s disco hit “Born to Be Alive.” Watch the Piaf performance below, and head to X to see footage of the Hernandez cover.
The opening ceremony, which took place at the Place de la Concorde, also featured performances from Montreal-born pianist and Daft Punk collaborator Chilly Gonzales, Ed Banger artist Myd, and French musician Sébastien Tellier.
