Hey, are you looking to grow your Threads presence?

This might help. Last week, Meta ran an info session for creators, within which it shared some practical tips for growing your Threads presence.

As you can see in this listing, posted by Lea Sabban, Meta’s top tips for growing your presence on Threads are:

  • Post regularly and engage with your audience in replies
  • Join ongoing conversations by replying to threads that resonate with you to reach out to more people and potentially convert them into followers
  • Jump on trends and share your thoughts on cultural moments, pop culture and current events that are likely to be top of mind for your audience
  • Use a topic tag in your posts to make it discoverable by people who search that topic or tap the tag from another post
  • Experiment with content formats to identify what works best for you and your audience

So, fairly generic tips, overall, but there could be some practical value in implementing these notes to help maximize your Threads following, and establish a presence in the app.

And you should probably be considering it.

Threads is currently sitting on 200 million monthly active users, according to Meta’s most recent update. Which is still a long way off the major social apps, and a distance away from X, its main rival for real-time social updates (X has 500 million MAU). But Threads is gaining momentum, with the app continuing to rise in the overall download rankings, and catching on with certain niche communities.

Meta’s aversion to politics has surely impacted its growth in this regard particularly amid the current US Presidential Election race. But even so, as X loses momentum, Threads is gaining, and it does seem like, at some stage, Threads is going to catch up to X in total users.

That’s not to say that Threads will beat X at its own game. X is still hugely popular among sports fans and entertainment commentators, and it seems set to remain a key destination for such discussion for some time yet. But Threads is gradually establishing its own place in the broader social media ecosystem, which could make it a valuable platform for your own promotion and audience engagement.

It depends on your audience, but maybe, these tips will prove handy as you consider your options for building a Threads presence.
