0

Austin Swartz is a 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard out of Concord (NC) that already ranks as the No. 131 overall prospect in the class due to a high level skillset and a lethal long-range jumper.

His talents have caught the eyes and attention of high majors across the southeast and Atlantic Coast which he discussed with 247Sports.

“It’s going well,” he said of his recruitment. “High major, power five conferences is where I want to go and that’s where I have offers from. Hopefully I keep getting more of those and I am going to be doing my best to keep playing hard.”

The schools he said he has been hearing from the most include Clemson, Georgia, Illinois and Virginia Tech in which he shared his thoughts on each program.

Clemson: “Clemson is solid, coach [Brad] Brownell is great. His system is awesome and it leads to winning. It’s somewhere I can be me. They have been great to me and they have made me and my family feel welcome there so it can definitely be an option, for sure.”

Georgia: “I think coach [Mike] White is awesome. He is going to do a great job. He is a phenomenal coach. He has put so many guys in the NBA, all-conference, gotten them where they need to go, especially guards. I feel like he can put me there too.”

Illinois: “Illinois is great. Coach Frazier is awesome. He has been reaching out and talking to me for over a month now so we are building chemistry, talking about my game, talking about what they do and think it could be a great fit.”

Virginia Tech: “Coach Young, that’s a three-point offense right there. That’s something I can vibe in because that’s my strong-suit. Coach Giltner and coach Young have done a great job of recruiting me and my family, making me feel welcome. They have been running me through their offense and I think it could be a great fit there and somewhere I can thrive at and get where I want to, which is the NBA.”

So far Swartz has taken unofficials to Virginia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina and as he starts setting up his officials, there are three destinations on his mind.

“I will take some officials to Georgia, Clemson, and try to get up to Illinois,” he said. “Those are top of the list right now.”

What is he looking for in a school?

“Just somewhere that fits me and makes me feel welcome.”
