Apple gave up on offering leather accessories for its mobile devices in September of last year, replacing them with a “FineWoven” material that is made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester. It’s been selling $59 FineWoven iPhone cases and MagSafe Wallets, $35 FineWoven AirTag holders, and $99 FineWoven Apple Watch bands ever since.
According to a new report from the same leakster who initially told us about these FineWoven accessories last year, Apple has now terminated production for all of them. Thus, if this is true (and that’s a big if even with a reliable source like this), and you’ve always wanted to pick up a FineWoven… something, now’s the time to act fast before they go out of stock forever.

If you’re wondering why Apple would discontinue an entire range of accessories after only about half a year from launch, the reason probably has to do with the countless online reports decrying the abysmal quality and pretty much non-existent longevity on offer with the FineWoven stuff.
Unfortunately for fans of leather, Apple isn’t planning on returning to it. Instead, it’s expected to replace FineWoven with another material, according to the same source.
If all of this pans out, the FineWoven blunder will have been one of Apple’s biggest in recent years. We’re curious to see whether the company will ever acknowledge the widely reported issues with this material or if it will simply choose to quietly discontinue it. Stay tuned.
