Chicago police say at least four people, including a 16-year-old, were wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon at Parkway Gardens on the city’s South Side.

Police initially said officers responded to the 6400 block of South King Drive at 6:17 p.m. The shooting took place around the corner, in the 6300 block of South Calumet Avenue, according to police.

The 16-year-old boy, who was shot in the chest, was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center by paramedics and was initially reported in critical condition.

Three men, ages 22, 39 and 42, who went to the same hospital on their own, were struck by gunfire in either a leg or a thigh and were initially reported in good condition.

Area One detectives are conducting an investigation.
