A severe winter storm hit North America on Friday, January 12, 2024, bringing heavy storms, massive snow, high winds and extreme cold to several states. One of the worst affected areas was Chicago, where more than 1,000 flights were canceled at the city’s two main airports, O’Hare International and Midway International, according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center.
