Coyote track and field adds 10

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota director of track and field/cross country Lucky Huber is pleased to announce the addition of Bre Dunn, Mikael Grace, Henry Grayson, Chloe Green, Caden LaFleur, Landon Olson, Bella Pavlis, Lexi Quigley, Maci Steuber and Matayah Yellow Mule to the Coyote track and field program.
 
Bre Dunn | Hurdles and Multis| Barrington, Ill. | Barrington HS | Health Sciences
 
Hailing from outside Chicago in Barrington, Illinois, Bre Dunn placed fourth at the 2022 Illinois State Championships with a personal best clocking of 44.99 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. It marked the second-straight year that she’d placed in the top-six of the event at the state meet. She also helped the Broncos’ 4×400-meter relay place at the state meet in 2019 and 2021. She was a member of the Broncos’ sectional championship title in 2021 and multiple team conference championships. On the club circuit, she won the heptathlon at the 2021 USATF Illinois All-Comers meet. She owns a heptathlon personal best of 3,662 points. Barrington also competed in volleyball and gymnastics for the Broncos, serving as the volleyball team’s captain and the starting middle blocker as a senior. In the classroom, she was an Illinois State Scholar, a member of the Delta Epsilon Phi National German Honor Society and the National Honor Society. She plans to major in health sciences at USD.
 
Mikael Grace | Hurdles | Custer, S.D. | Custer HS | Criminal Justice
 
A hurdler from Custer, South Dakota, Mikael Grace finished runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2021 South Dakota State Championships in 15.38 seconds. He also anchored the Wildcats’ 4×200-meter relay to fifth place. Grace owns personal bests of 15.36 seconds in the 110 hurdles and 41.95 seconds in the 300 hurdles. He also participated in football, basketball and wrestling at Custer High School. An honor roll student, he plans to major in criminal justice at South Dakota.
 
Henry Grayson | Sprints | Medford, Minn. | Medford HS | Business
 
Hailing from Medford, Minnesota, Henry Grayson finished runner-up in the 400 meters at the 2022 Minnesota State Championships, clocking a personal best of 49.52 seconds in the final. He was the 2021 Gopher Conference Athlete of the Year. At the conference meet, he took gold in the 400 and 200 meters, while also finishing runner-up in the 100 meters. He owns Medford High School records in both the 400 meters (49.52) and the 4×200-meter relay (1:35.64). He owns a personal best of 23.34 in the open 200 meters. He was also a member of the Tigers’ basketball team. Grayson plans to major in business at South Dakota.
 
Chloe Green | Sprints | Omaha, Neb. | Westside HS | Business
 
A sprinter out of Omaha, Nebraska, Chloe Green earned the Westside High School Sprinter of the Year award. She led off the Warriors’ third place 4×100 relay at the 2022 Nebraska State Championships, also medaling as a member of the 4×400 relay. She owns personal bests of 12.45 seconds in the 100 meters and 26.04 seconds in the 200 meters. She’s a member of DECA and an honor roll student. Green plans to major in business at South Dakota.
 
Caden LaFleur | Throws| South Sioux City, Neb. | Bishop Heelan Catholic HS | Finance
 
A native of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Caden LaFleur competes for Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City (Iowa). He placed sixth in the discus at the 2021 Iowa State Championships. He owns personal bests of 156-4 in the discus and 50-8 ½ in the shot put. He also qualified for the Drake Relays and was the leading tackler on the Crusaders’ football team in 2020. An honor roll student, LaFleur plans to major in finance as a part of USD’s business school.
 
Landon Olson | Jumps| Battle Creek, Neb. | Battle Creek HS | Finance
 
Hailing from Battle Creek, Nebraska, Landon Olson is a Nebraska state champion in the long jump and seven-time state medalist at the Nebraska State Championships. As a senior, he won gold with the 4×100-meter relay clocking 43.99 seconds, added a runner-up finish in the high jump, placed second in the long jump and took fifth in the triple jump at the 2022 Nebraska State Championships. He cleared a personal best of 6-10 in the high jump at the state meet and leaped a personal best of 23-1 ¼ in the long jump in April. Both marks are Battle Creek High School records. Olson is a two-time all-district and academic all-state honoree on the football field, helping the team reach state. He was Battle Creek’s class president, the National Honor Society president and an honor roll student. He plans to major in finance as a part of USD’s business school.
 
Bella Pavlis | Sprints | Flandreau, S.D. | Flandreau HS | Business
 
A native of Flandreau, South Dakota, Bella Pavlis placed fifth in the 100 meters at the 2021 South Dakota State Championships with a clocking of 13.14 seconds. She’s a nine-time qualifier for the state meet, helping the Fliers reach the championships in three relays during her senior season. She owns personal bests of 12.8 seconds in the 100 meters and 27.0 seconds in the 200 meters. Pavlis also places for the Fliers’ volleyball and basketball squads, earning all-conference honors on the volleyball court and helping the basketball team reach the state tournament. She’s a Girls State attendee, National Honor Society member, FCA member, a student council member, and a four-time academic letterwinner. She plans to major in business at South Dakota.
 
Lexi Quigley | Sprints | Rapid City, S.D. | Stevens HS | Pre-Law
 
A native of Rapid City, South Dakota, Lexi Quigley garnered the women’s in sports award at Rapid City Stevens. She clocked personal bests of 13.63 seconds in the 100 meters and 28.81 seconds in the 200 meters as a senior. Quigley plans to attend law school after law track and will be on the pre-law track at South Dakota.
 
Maci Steuber | Distance | Columbia, Mo. | Rock Bridge HS | Kinesiology & Sport Management
 
Hailing from Columbia, Missouri, Maci Steuber helped the Bears’ cross country program place in the top-four at the state meet three times, including a runner-up finish at the 2020 Missouri State Championships. The cross country squad boasts four district titles and a pair of sectional championships in Steuber’s prep career. She owns personal bests of 19:17.10 for 5,000 meters on the cross country course and 11:44.21 for 3,200 meters on the track. An honor roll student, Steuber plans to major in kinesiology and sport management.
 
Matayah Yellow Mule | Jumps | Rapid City, S.D. | Central HS | Undecided
 
A native of Rapid City, South Dakota, Matayah Yellow Mule won back-to-back state titles in the triple jump as a junior and senior, also taking the all-class gold in the event. She added a runner-up finish in the long jump at the 2021 South Dakota State Championships and took fifth in the 100 meters in 2022. Yellow Mule leaped a personal best 39-9 in the triple jump at the Last Chance Meet this past May, while she holds a personal best of 18-11 ½ in the long jump from her junior season. She holds Central’s school record in the long jump. Yellow Mule also played volleyball and participated in gymnastics for the Cobblers.
