Illinois State Police on Tuesday released dashcam video that shows murder suspect Cristobal Santana firing at least 10 shots at a trooper during a traffic stop in Springfield on Oct. 24.
Trooper Dakotah Chapman-Green was hit several times. Police said Santana also struck Chapman-Green repeatedly causing facial fractures, a skull fracture and a brain bleed.
Santana fled the scene, but was taken into custody several hours later.
Santana was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with Chapman-Green’s shooting.
Santana is also a suspect in the fatal shooting of his former girlfriend outside her home in Chicago several days earlier.
Both Santana and Chapman-Green remain hospitalized.
