Dorothy Hoffner dies week after setting skydiving record

Israeli warplanes hammered the Gaza Strip neighborhood by neighborhood today, reducing buildings to rubble and sending people scrambling to find safety.

A recent graduate of Deerfield High School and her mother are believed to be hostages held by Hamas. Natalie Raanan and her mother, Judith, were reported missing while visiting family in Israel during the attacks, according to a letter sent to the school community by Deerfield Principal Kathryn Anderson.

And a senior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School who is studying in Israel recalled the Saturday attack. “It was extremely chaotic. It was really overwhelming,” Josh Jury said.
