PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years. July 4 is just around the corner, so it’s time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.
We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around the Palos area, so you can start planning now. Here’s what’s in store this July 4 in the Palos area:
Independence Day Festivities
What: Independence Day Family Celebration
Where: Community Park, 76th Avenue, Palos Heights
When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 3
Inflatables and games for kids. Presale wristbands are $15 through June 30; $20 through July 2, per child. Wristbands will not be sold the day of the event.
What: Concert and Fireworks
Where: Memorial Park, 7607 W. College Drive, Palos Heights
When: Gates open 5 p.m.; fireworks blast off at 9:15 p.m. July 3
Features a DJ in the gazebo, beer tent, food vendors (Kiwanis Roof Top, Taco Burrito King, Tropical Snow, Aurelio’s Pizza, Original Rainbow Cone, BoJo’s), and the featured concert Soda.
What: Palos Heights Fourth of July Parade
Where: BMO Harris Bank at 126th Street and Harlem Avenue. The parade will travel north Harlem Avenue, to 119th Place. The last block of the parade (120th Street to College Drive/Rt. 83) will be “sensory free” with no lights, sirens or music for adults and children with sensory sensitivites.
When: Noon, July 4
Don’t forget Palos Hills’ Friendship Fest coming up July 7 through July 10, featuring rides, games, food, music and fireworks. Palos Park’s big doings happen in September at Autumn In The Park.
