Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria – Monteverdi – W.Christie- Dynamic

Once again William Christie, Les Arts Florissants (they have recently celebrated the 30th anniversary) and Pier Luigi Pizzi converging as an inspired team performed a top class work. First Spanish performance of the opera and the second of the new Monteverdi trilogy by teatro Real co-produced with la Fenice.
Badoaro’s libretto, based on Books 13-23 of Homer’s The Odyssey, narrates the vicissitudes of Ulysses after his arrival in Ithaca, following on from twenty years of journeying and attempting to make his return follwoing the Trojan war. Aided by Goddess Minerva, he succeeds in being reunited with his son Telemachus, taking revenge on a group of deceitful suitors and being recognized by his faithful and patient wife Penelope.
