April 24 — Gov Pritzker focused heavily on the state’s expansion of testing, as part of the transition toward reopening the economy. The state far exceeded their goal of 10,000 tests for today, when they actually tested 16,000 individuals. As a result of this expansion, the state also set a new record for new cases of the Coronavirus, with 2,724 new cases added. This brings the total as of today to 39,658 cases and 1,795 deaths. The vast majority of the cases and death remain in Chicago, Cook County and the surrounding counties.

On Friday, President Trump signed into law an aid bill that adds $484 billion in new aid for employers and to help hospitals cover the extra costs of treating the pandemic.
