A 37-year-old woman is in custody after shooting a man on a CTA Red Line train near the Roosevelt station, Chicago police said.

The woman was arguing with the 35-year-old man on the train at the 1100 block of South State Street just after 8 p.m. Saturday when she pulled out a gun and shot him in the left arm and right hip, according to police.

After the shooting, the woman fled the train and police said that officers took her into custody and recovered her gun about a block away on the 1100 block of South Wabash Avenue. Area Three Detectives are investigating.

The Chicago Fire Department took the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. He was listed in good condition.

The CTA temporarily suspended Red Line service between the Fullerton and 63rd stops due to police activity following the shooting. The service resumed by 9 p.m. with a reroute to the elevated tracks between Cermak and Fullerton, and the Red Line resumed its regular route before 9:30 p.m., according to CTA Twitter notifications.
