In this video, I discuss Masterworks, which is a very popular platform that makes investing in artwork more accessible than ever before. Masterworks’ team buys artworks (after it satisfies their strict diligence requirements), and securities that artwork for their investors. The masterworks investors can buy or sell shares of these individual pieces of artwork. Masterworks then seeks to sell the pieces of art at a premium (thus collecting a fee and providing a return to their investors). This investment option may offer limited liquidity to investors. Masterworks ideally looks to hold its art work for an average of 3-10 years (to maximize return).
