MaxPreps Cup: Hinsdale Central of Illinois remains in lead for top high school athletic programs in the nation

With more states concluding their fall sports season, the MaxPreps Cups standings have undergone a radical change with only five teams remaining in the Top 25 from the October standings.

The one thing that hasn’t changed, however, is Hinsdale Central’s place on top of the rankings with a score of 1,223. The Illinois school holds off a hard-charging Jesuit (Portland, Ore.) program that added multiple championships in the fall for a total of 1,102 points. Noblesville, which was ranked near the top of the rankings in September but fell out in October, returns to the top half of the rankings with a No. 3 finish and 1,063 points.

Many states have not concluded their football season so the rankings could change again when MaxPreps announces the final fall season rankings in early January.

The MaxPreps Cups standings are an attempt to rate the top high school athletic programs in the country. Schools are awarded points based on the state championships and runner-up finishes as well as placing in the Top 25 in national rankings for various sports.
