COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Terps are looking to bounce back after a tough road loss at Michigan on Sunday with its closest road trip of the season on Thursday night at Rutgers. After being ranked the last six weeks, Maryland fell out of the AP Top 25 Poll, but is still receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The game will be televised on BTN starting at 6:30 p.m., while fans can also listen to the Maryland Sports Network (105.7 FM – Baltimore, The TEAM 980 AM – Washington, D.C., One Maryland App) with Voice of the Terrapins Johnny Holliday (play-by-play) and Chris Knoche (analyst) calling the action.

Maryland enters Thursday’s game at No. 49 in the current NCAA NET rankings. Maryland has a Quad 1 win (Miami) and two Quad 2 wins (Illinois, Saint Louis). A total of 13 games for Maryland are currently Quad 1. The Terps have been as high as No. 6 in the NET and as high as No. 13 in the AP Top 25 Poll.

  • Maryland leads the all-time series against Rutgers, 13-6, including wins in each of the past two road trips against the Scarlet Knights.
  • The Terps are 6-2 all-time on the road in the series.
  • In 2020, Donta Scott scored 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor while adding eight rebounds.

  • Jahmir Young is one of 12 active players in the NCAA to post 1,500 career points, 500 rebounds, and 300 assists.
  • Entering the season, many questioned Jahmir Young’s ability to translate his scoring from C-USA to Power 5 play. Young’s response has been a team-best 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game. To date, he has a pair of 20-point games including a season-high 24 against then-No. 16 Illinois. In the stretch of Illinois, Wisconsin, and No. 7 Tennessee, he averaged 19.7 points. He is also the fourth-leading rebounder (4.6) and has the fourth-most blocked shots (9) on the team.
  • Young is the nation’s 13th-ranked active career scorer with at 16.3 point per game average and the 46th ranked player in overall points (1,617).

Terps Have Four Averaging Double-Figures

  • Maryland features four players averaging in double figures so far this season. Led by Jahmir Young’s 14.0 points, Hakim Hart and Donta Scott are just behind at 12.6 per game. Julian Reese (10.2) rounds out the quartet.
  • Hart, Reese, and Scott are all averaging career-best scoring totals to begin the season.
  • The win over Coppin State featured three players scoring 20-or-more points in a game for the first time in 20 years: Julian Reese (24), Hakim Hart (22), and Jahmir Young (21).
  • Maryland has a 9.6 scoring margin which ranks 82nd nationally.

Scott Reaches 1,000 Points; Eclipses 500 Boards

  • Donta Scott became the 59th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in the win over Miami. He scored 24 points in that game and now has 1,103 career points. He is also the 17th Terp to post 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. Through 108 career games he now has 580 rebounds.
  • Darryl Morsell (1,090 points / 510 rebounds / 2018-21) and Anthony Cowan (1,881 points / 508 rebounds / 2017-20) were the most recent Terps to post 1,000/500.
  • Scott is now tied for 50th all-time alongside Sean Mosley (2008-12) and needs five points to move past Chris McCray (2002-06) for 47th. He needs six more boards to surpass Tom Roy for 30th in career rebounds.
  • Scott was one of 20 players named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Watch List as announced by the Basketball Hall of Fame in late October.
  • This is Scott’s second year on the watch list after also garnering the honor last season. He joins Jalen Smith (2019-20) and Jake Layman (2014-15) as Terps to be recognized.
  • Scott ranked as the No. 49 overall player nationally last season.

Maryland One of the Top Producers of 1,000 point scorers

  • With Donta Scott reaching the 1,000 point mark for his career earlier this season, Maryland’s 59 all-time 1,000 point scorers ranks as the 10th most among all schools and is tied with UCLA.
  • The Terps have three 1,000 point scorers on this season’s roster but Jahmir Young (1,617 pts) and Don Carey (1,320 points) hit the mark at their previous institutions.
