0

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to continue through Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Due to thunderstorms, NASCAR officials delayed opening the Chicago Street Race gates Sunday morning to 10:15 a.m. Officials also postponed the finish of Saturday’s race to 10:45 a.m. Sunday, and canceled the scheduled Saturday evening concert.

Northeast Cook County is under a flood advisory until 11 a.m. and officials said roads and streets could be flooded, with some parts of the county receiving one inch of rain.

Heavy downpours were possible throughout the morning, reducing visibility on highways.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms were possible south of I-80 with a risk for hail and damaging wind gusts.

Current conditions at Midway Airport were overcast and 72 degrees. Temperatures were the same at O’Hare International Airport with fog and mist. Temperatures in Chicago were forecast at a high of 75 degrees for Sunday.
