We have barely left our house in the last year due to the pandemic, so we decided that we needed a staycation. So we headed up to Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, IL. We had never gotten the chance to stay there until Kate found a great deal on Groupon for 1 night trip.
Our check-in time for our room was around 4pm but GWL allows you early entry to the waterpark before you check-in time at 1pm, so we hit the water park to check it out and have a little fun. The water park was so great a little for everyone. There’s a place to grab a couple of beers and other some food. We were able to check in a little early at 3pm, they send a text when your room is ready and the wrist bands they give you open your door, no key cards required! The room at Great Wolf Lodge was spacious. We were booked into the Family Deluxe room with 2 queen beds and a full size pullout couch.
There many activity to do there a Arcade, Bowling, Mini Golf, Rock Climbing, MagiQuest, Howlers Peck Ropes Course and much more. They do have places for indoor dining Timbers, and Blackwoods to name a few.
If you are looking to grab a souvenir or your running low on supply the Buckhorn Giftshop will have what you need. There are other shops even a Build-a-Bear store.
One thing that stands out was the way Great Wolf Lodge follows the CDC Covid-19 guidelines from cleans up, swipe downs, social distancing, and as well as there facemask policy. It made our trip feel safe and enjoyable. It was great staycation we actually prefer Gurnee location over the Wisconsin Dells location. We were not feeling well and it was a very quick trip to the Dells location so might be worth a other shot. We recommend if you live in Illinois or in the Chicago area head the Gurnee Great Wolf Lodge location for some great family fun.
