‘They help me get resources’

As of this week, the Evanston Public Library no longer has a social worker. “It’s very important,” said Vincent Harris, who uses the library twice a week. “They help me get resources.” Harris, who turned 60 this week, used to work as an entertainer but has been homeless for more than two years. Computers help him. Spokesperson Jenette Sturges said the library is “completely committed” to hiring a social worker but needs to figure out funding and find the right person.
