Unconquerable: The Kickapoo of Central Illinois

0

The Kickapoo, a fiercely independent people, inhabited this stretch of Central Illinois when the first Euro-American settlers arrived in the early 1820s.

Bloomington Public Library will be hosting the Museum’s Librarian, Bill Kemp, to explore who precisely the Kickapoo were. Kemp’s presentation will also feature rare 1906 photographs commissioned by Milo Custer, an early curator of the McLean County Historical Society, to capture the life of Kickapoo living in Brown County, Kansas.

Kemp has served as the Museum’s Librarian for 20 years. He has graduate degrees from the University of Illinois Springfield and Illinois State University.

Thank you to Bloomington Public Library for providing the recording of this program for our YouTube channel!
