8 people shot Sunday morning in River North, Chicago police say

Eight people were shot during an exchange of gunfire early morning Sunday in River North, according to Chicago police.

Police said a group of people got into a physical altercation outside at about 2:38 a.m. in the 300 block of West Erie Street.

Four people are hospitalized in critical condition. A 43-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and transported to Stroger Hospital, police said. A 32-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds throughout his body, and was also transported to Stroger, police said.

An adult man, who was shot in the head, and another adult man, who was shot in the abdomen, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to police.

Three of the victims are listed in good condition. A 27-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and a 25-year-old man was shot in the groin, police said. They were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Police said a 23-year-old woman who was shot in the foot was taken to Stroger Hospital.

A 27-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds throughout his body and was transported to Northwestern Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

No suspects are in custody, and police said they are investigating the shooting.
