AURORA, IL — Nearly 40 businesses will be participating in nonprofit Aurora Downtown’s annual trick-or-treating event Saturday.

From 1-3 p.m., visitors can trick-or-treat at various establishments, including small businesses, museums and restaurants, which will be open with treats. Participants of all ages are encouraged to wear costumes to the event. The free event was first hosted in 2015, and it quickly became a family favorite, organizers said.

“It’s such a fun, lively event,” Marissa Amoni, manager of Aurora Downtown, said in a statement. “We love to see the community’s creativity every year.”

To find which businesses are participating in the treat-or-treat, guests should look for the orange pumpkin sign in storefronts. A map can also be found online and at the Santori Public Library, Aurora Regional Fire Museum and David L. Pierce Art and History Center.

Trick-or-treating will coincide with Sugar Skull City, a downtown-wide Day of the Dead celebration. While downtown, visitors can stop by participating businesses to view ofrendas, painted storefronts and more.
