St. Charles City Council Approves Tax Hike

0

ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles City Council voted in favor of a small tax hike for the city portion of residents’ tax bill, which will mean a $24 per year increase for the owner of a home that has a $300,000 cash value, according to Shaw Local News.

Finance Director Bill Hannah said the small spike will help pay for required increases in the police and fire pension contributions following actuarial valuations that were completed earlier this year, according to the article. It will also cover the cost for a small increase in the amount levied for the mental health board.

The St. Charles City Council approved the $24.3 million tax levy during a Dec. 19 meeting.
