Swaysee Rankin, 15, who was shot and killed Monday, was among dozens shot in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, according to a police report obtained by the Tribune.
Swaysee had survived a previous shooting and helped save the life of a 10-year-old girl injured in another shooting, according to previous Tribune reports.

An unknown driver dropped Swaysee off at South Shore Hospital at about 7:40 p.m. Monday, according to the police report. The teen died of multiple gunshot wounds just after 9 that night, the report said.
In 2020, Swaysee had helped save the life of La’Mya Sparks, then 10, by using his shirt to apply pressure to her injuries when she was shot in Russell Square Park, according to his stepfather in an interview with the Tribune six months later.
The next year, he became a victim of gun violence at 13 when someone in a vehicle opened fire on him, a friend and a cousin on the sidewalk, his mother, Ashley Jackson, told the Tribune at the time. Swaysee had been shot in the back and the abdomen and underwent surgery to repair his stomach and intestines, she said.
Six people were killed and 33 injured in shootings over Labor Day weekend, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Police did not have a suspect in custody as of Tuesday afternoon and were continuing to investigate, a department representative said.
