Video of Illinois State Police trooper shooting and suspect apprehension

Illinois State Police released dashcam video of the shooting of Trooper Dakotah Chapman-Green on Oct. 24, 2023 in Springfield. Chapman-Green is recovering from facial fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed after the suspect shot at least 10 gunshots. The suspect, who fled the scene, was apprehended hours later. Video shows police ramming the on-foot suspect with a vehicle. The suspect, 37-year-old Cristobal Santana, was wanted in connection with a homicide in Chicago when he was stopped in Springfield. He’s now been charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm to a Police Officer, one count of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, and one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
